hi, i’m @yourfriend.jasmine.

mental health advocate & money mindset mentor

I am a 2nd generation Latina (Puerto Rican/Mexican) who grew up in a single parent low income home. The challenges I faced as a kid deeply impacted my mindsets around myself, how I viewed the world, and my relationship with money. In my early adulthood I made some major money mistakes, and as a result I lost my home, my car and all of my possessions. I believe through this deep loss, it was an invitation by God to redefine what success meant to me. I began to walk through a financial literacy journey and learned how to budget and save, however even with these tools I was still struggling with how to thrive. I felt a disconnect between what I was learning, and my self limiting thoughts. In May 2018, I started therapy and received a diagnosis of PTSD with de-personalization, which would later change to CPTSD, along with depression/anxiety. Since then I’ve been on an intentional journey to heal so that I can live a whole and healed life.

My own mental health journey has been this holistic process of learning to cope with the realities of my story, while finding ways to heal outside of just talk therapy. I’ve come to find healing through storytelling, creativity, and community. I long for Mentally Mutual to be a space that promotes community based and led mental health support, so that we can collectively and individually heal.
